Waltz for Quintet is a stand-alone piece that forms the second movement of Telluris Theoria Sacra (a chamber work in four movements for eight players). The title is derived from Thomas Burnet’s Sacred Theory of the Earth, published in 1689. Telluris Theoria Sacra is a National Endowment for the Arts Consortium Commission, written for The Atlanta Chamber Players, The Theater Chamber Players, and The New Music Consort.
